In honor of a man that time will never forget, we cordially invite you to the 1st Annual Earl E. Walker Memorial Golf Outing to benefit the Walker Scottish Rite Clinic for Childhood Language Disorders. The Earl E. Walker Memorial Golf Outing will be Wed. June 20, 2012 at Tapawingo Golf Club in Sunset Hills. This 4-man Scramble will have a shotgun start at 11 a.m. and includes delicious lunch, fabulous dinner & drinks, premium giveaways as well as many other amenities.
The Walker Scottish Rite Clinic is a non-profit 501(c)(3) charity providing long-term therapy to children ages 2 to 6 years old with speech and language disorders and has been a valuable St. Louis area resource for parents of children with communication challenges for over 24 years and currently serves children in 6 key Eastern Missouri locations including locations in St. Louis, Elsberry, Union and Crystal City. Clinic services include screenings, evaluations, individual and group therapy, audiological evaluations, and parent training. All professional services are provided free to the children.
Featured at this Earl E. Walker Memorial Golf Outing will be Isaiah, who is currently receiving therapeutic services at the Clinic. Isaiah enrolled at the Clinic when he was 2 1/2 years old and started in the Clinic’s KidTalk Prep therapy program, tailored for the young non-talker. Isaiah was limited to only producing sounds and sign language and not using words. After the intensive 12 week Prep program, Isaiah began pronouncing single words. Isaiah then continued into individual therapy and, after 11 months in the program has progressed to 3 word sentences. Isaiah’s ability to communicate has come through hard work and dedication by Isaiah himself, his family and his Clinic therapist, Margaret. A portion of Isaiah’s – and every child’s – care at the Clinic is funded by this Benefit Golf Outing.
