Viritual Tour of the Joplin Scottish Rite Cathedral
The Joplin Scottish Rite recently launched an interactive virtual tour of their cathedral. Thanks to the photography of Mark Farbin, you can now explore the Joplin Scottish Rite Cathedral from the comfort of your own home (or while waiting in line for Chinese take-out … thanks smartphones!).
The cathedral “…is a two-story, concrete terra cotta social hall built in the Beauz-Arts style in 1923.” You can learn more regarding the history and architecture of this spectacular structure by visiting http://www.joplinaasr.com/building_history.htm.

Brethren,
Our Spring Reunion is just around the corner! We’ll host our 288th Valley of Joplin Scottish Rite Reunion honoring Illustrious Brother Lon Orr, 33°, on Friday, March 17 and Saturday, March 18, with both days’ registration beginning at 6:30am. We always need candidates! So if you know of a good Man and Mason that would want to join us in our mission, invite them to become a part of us! We’ll also be holding our Gathering of the XVII Scotch and Wine Tasting event on the evening of Thursday, March 16. Call the office to find out more about this special event!
We’ve made rooming arrangements at Candlewood Suites as in Reunions past. Their address is 3512 S. Rangeline Road in Joplin. You can reserve a Queen or Double room for $64.00 plus tax or a King room for $72.00 plus tax for March 16 or 17. Remember, you must mention the term “Temple Block” to insure the room rate! Your reservation must be made before March 6 cutoff date. After March 6, room pricing will be honored based on availability. Overflow has been arranged with the Best Western Oasis for Single-bed room at $61.00 plus tax. Be sure to make your reservation quickly! Call 417-623-9595 and reserve your room today!
I would also ask you to spread this information around as many of our Brothers don’t use email and won’t get this message! Thanks, Brethren! I hope we see you in Joplin!

Joplin Scottish Rite Inaugural Family Picnic
Save the date! We’re holding our first ever Scottish Rite Family Picnic on Sunday, July 17, 2016! Bring your spouse or girlfriend, in-laws, kids, your favorite Masonic Brother, and anyone else that might enjoy a fun time in the park! It will be held at Finley River Park in Ozark, beginning at 2:00pm and lasting until dark, or whenever we get tired. Activities could include fishing, croquet, tennis, baseball, soccer, marbles, badminton, volleyball, basketball, or any other number of fun activities.
The event is free to our members and their guests, but we would ask you to help us out by bringing a covered dish. We would also like to ask our Scottish Rite Clubs to help! The Joplin Club has offered to bring drinks and the Ridge Runners Club has offered to bring some hamburger patties and hot dogs. What can your Club bring? We’re in need of brats, bread, and anything else that is typically needed at a cookout! Please let us know! Also if you have a singing group and some musical instruments, bring them out! We’d love to hear some good music in the park! Again, just let us know you plan on being there!
We’ve reserved the Pavilions in the park, so the event will go on, come rain or shine! Let’s make this a wonderful and glorious day of fun and Brotherhood at Ozark! Also be sure to keep an eye on your email for additional information about this great event! I look forward to hearing from you soon!

Excuse the mess!
Please excuse the mess! I am currently making modifications to improve this website on mobile phones and tablets. During this process, the template will appear a bit “basic” and you may notice menus not working, etc.
Things should be much improved within a few days!
Thank you for your patience and understanding during this transition!
S&F,
Aaron
